ARTIST STATEMENT

Photography is fascinating to me by allowing one to a glimpse into another persons view of the world and allowing them to have a glimpse into yours. While the intent of one’s photographs may be interpreted in a different way from the artists intention (we are all fated to view the world through our own lenses) it opens up an opportunity for worlds to converge and ideas to be shared. Photography for me is a way of being in the world that has made it easy to access meditative flow state and find myself in situations I would not normally find myself in, almost always for the better.

Until recently I rarely ever photographed people unless they were rock climbing, but these days I almost exclusively photograph strangers. It is a way to document the world around me and to see the good in people, beauty in the mundane, and how connected we are as human beings in both environment and in our humanity. In my work I aim to capture these fleeting moments to hopefully inspire joy, empathy, laughter, and nostalgia among a host of other emotions and reactions.

all good things… come by grace and grace comes by art and art does not come easy
